Vada Pav is a popular snack in India, made with a spicy potato filling sandwiched between two soft buns. Here's a recipe for you to try at home:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups boiled and mashed potatoes
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
- Salt, to taste
- 4 pav buns
- 1 cup chickpea flour (besan)
- Water, as needed
- Oil, for frying
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, green chilies, coriander leaves, and salt. Mix well to form a dough.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal parts and shape each part into a round patty.
- In a small bowl, mix together the chickpea flour and enough water to make a smooth, thick batter.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Dip each patty into the chickpea flour batter and carefully place it in the hot oil. Fry the patties until they are golden brown on both sides.
- Remove the patties from the oil and drain on a paper towel.
- Cut each pav bun horizontally in half and lightly toast them on a pan over medium heat.
- Place one fried patty in each pav bun and sprinkle some red chili powder and garam masala on top.
- Close the bun and serve hot. Enjoy!
